Privacy Policy
Moosen AI, Inc. ("Moosen AI," "we," "us," or "our") built MoosePad with privacy at its core. This Privacy Policy explains what information MoosePad collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
By using MoosePad, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you don't agree, please do not use the app.
1. What MoosePad Does
MoosePad is a meeting note-taking app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It records audio, transcribes speech to text using on-device Apple Speech Framework, and generates AI-powered meeting summaries.
2. Information We Collect
Information processed on your device only
The following data is created and stored on your device (or synced via your personal iCloud account):
- Audio recordings of your meetings (microphone input on all platforms; audio from other apps on Mac, iPhone, and iPad — see "System Audio Capture" below)
- Transcripts generated from speech recognition
- AI-generated summaries of your meetings
- Notes you add during recordings
- Folder organization and meeting metadata (titles, dates, durations)
We have no ability to access, view, or retrieve this data. It exists only on your device and in your iCloud account.
Apple ID information
When you sign in with Apple, we receive the information you choose to share, which may include:
- Your name (or a name you choose to provide)
- Your email address (or an Apple-generated relay address if you choose to hide your email)
This information is stored on your device and in your iCloud key-value store. We do not maintain a separate user database or server.
Subscription information
If you subscribe to MoosePad, payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment details, credit card numbers, or billing address. We receive basic subscription status information from Apple (whether your subscription is active and its type) to unlock features in the app.
Information we do NOT collect
To be clear, Moosen AI does not collect:
- Audio recordings or meeting content
- Transcripts or summaries
- Usage analytics or tracking data
- Location data
- Contacts or calendar information
- Device identifiers for advertising
3. How Your Data Is Processed
AI processing
MoosePad uses Apple Speech Framework for on-device transcription. Meeting summaries are generated using OpenAI's API, routed through Vercel's AI Gateway. When a summary is generated, only the transcript text is sent securely for processing. No audio recordings are ever uploaded. OpenAI does not use API inputs for model training under their enterprise data policy.
System Audio Capture
MoosePad can capture audio playing from other apps on your device — for example, a Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet call, a YouTube video, a podcast, or a recorded meeting playing back. This is an opt-in feature that lets MoosePad transcribe both sides of a conversation alongside your microphone.
- Audio only: Only audio is captured. No screen content, images, video, notifications, or visual data of any kind is recorded, processed, or stored.
- On-device processing: Captured audio is processed entirely on your device using Apple's Speech Recognition framework for transcription. The audio data follows the same on-device storage path as microphone recordings.
- No upload: Audio is never uploaded to our servers or any third party. It is stored on your device and, if iCloud is enabled, in your personal iCloud account.
- No sharing: Audio data is not shared with any third parties.
- macOS implementation: On macOS, MoosePad uses Apple's ScreenCaptureKit framework. The video component is configured to the minimum possible resolution (2×2 pixels) and is discarded immediately. System audio capture requires your explicit permission through macOS System Settings (Privacy & Security > Screen & System Audio Recording). You can revoke this permission at any time.
- iPhone and iPad implementation: On iPhone and iPad, MoosePad uses Apple's ReplayKit Broadcast Upload Extension. The extension only reads audio from other apps. You start the broadcast yourself from a button inside MoosePad before each recording, and you can stop it from the system status bar or from MoosePad's Stop Recording button. Although iOS shows a system warning that mentions screen content and notifications (the standard warning for any screen broadcast), MoosePad does not capture or store any screen content, video, or notifications.
iCloud sync
If you have iCloud enabled, MoosePad uses Apple's CloudKit to sync your meetings, transcripts, and settings across your devices. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. Moosen AI does not have access to your iCloud data.
Family Sharing
MoosePad supports Family Sharing for subscriptions through the App Store. Family Sharing is managed by Apple. Each family member's meeting data remains private to their own device and iCloud account.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your meeting data (audio, transcripts, summaries, and notes) is stored on your device and, if iCloud is enabled, in your personal iCloud container. We use Apple's built-in security frameworks, including Keychain for credential storage and CloudKit's encryption for synced data.
Because we don't collect your data on our servers, the security of your meeting content depends on your device security (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID) and your iCloud account security. We recommend keeping your device and Apple ID protected with strong passwords and two-factor authentication.
5. Third-Party Services
MoosePad does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external services involved are:
- Apple App Store for distribution and subscription management
- Apple iCloud (CloudKit) for optional cross-device sync
- Apple Speech Framework for on-device transcription
- OpenAI API (via Vercel AI Gateway) for meeting summarization
Apple services are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. OpenAI's data handling is governed by their enterprise privacy policy.
6. Children's Privacy
MoosePad is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to address the situation.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Since your data is stored on your device and in your iCloud account, you have full control over it at all times:
- Delete individual meetings from within the app at any time
- Delete all app data by deleting the app from your device
- Remove iCloud data through your device's iCloud storage settings
- Delete your account using the "Delete Account" option in the app's Settings
Because we don't store your data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete on our end.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data. Since MoosePad stores your data on your device and in your iCloud account, you can exercise these rights directly on your device without needing to contact us.
If you have questions about your rights or need assistance, contact us at the address below.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and may notify you through the app. Your continued use of MoosePad after any changes means you accept the updated policy.
